2nd Desmond Doss Memorial Golf Tournament (DDMGT) hosted Veterans & 1st Responders at PGA WES, to Celebrate the heroism and values of Medal of Honor recipient Desmond T. Doss. On Monday, October 11, 2021, Golfers had a glorious day starting with prayer & breakfast.
Shotgun start at 8am (Beat the Heat) followed by a Trophy Memorial Luncheon with Honor Guard & Program hosted by Jeffrey Cordone & Gabe Videla. Bill Hart was MC, and Founder & President, Charles Knapp gave a brief overview of the Desmond Doss Foundation. Of the 88 golfers ~ 40 were Veterans & 1st responders thanks to Patron Sponsors across America.
This year’s guests were: 4 Marines from 29 Palms, 28 Veterans from American Legion post 519, and 8 first responders from Palm Springs. In addition, commanding Major General Austin Renforth was one of our honored guests and speakers, who also gave the orders to post the colors to his 29-Palm’s Color Guard, followed by Marc Judd, singing the National Anthem to a standing ovation.
Honor & Remember Foundation presented the DDF with a customized flag honoring Desmond T. Doss, and each golfer received a small Honor & Remember flag in their swag bag. What an honor for the DDF to hold their Key Annual Charity Fundraising Event, on the tournament grounds of PGA WEST on the acclaimed Pete Dye Stadium Course with the majestic Santa Rosa Mountain ridge looming in the background.
