June 6, 2024, Newbury Park, CA: Today was the last day of school for Newbury Park Adventist Academy students. Gabe Videla, DDF CEO, Jeffrey Cordone AP, DDF, and his wife Taryl had a most rewarding experience at their final Chapel Assembly, presenting the Desmond Doss Character Development Edusodes.
“As we continue to carry forward Desmond’s Legacy through our DD Character Development Edusodes, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on America’s youth. Just as Desmond did throughout his post-war life, our aim is to inspire each of you to be upright and honorable citizens, a mission that is at the heart of our Edusodes.” – Jeffrey Cordone, AP, DDF
Not only were the students engaged, but they actively participated in the program, engaging with deeply reflective questions during the Q&A, which was a testament to their understanding and appreciation of the Desmond Doss Character Development Edusodes.
As a Beta Site School—one of three such schools—NPAA is fully embracing the DD Character Development Edusodes video series. They are porting them into the classroom next year, meeting one of our main objectives—to get a battle buddy and go deeper.
Principal Joel Albritten told the students, “What the Doss Foundation has brought to us is a program that fits directly with our schools’ mission.”
Then, the Desmond Doss Foundation presented Principal Albritten with a $2,000 check, marking the establishment of the 2025 & 2026 Scholarship Award Program. This scholarship is a testament to the importance of the DD Character Development Edusodes. The award then will go to a Newbury Park Adventist Academy Student, a graduating senior who has not only completed the series but also exemplified the character values of Desmond Doss in their life.
The Desmond Doss Foundation Scholarship Award Requirements will be posted on the school’s bulletin board for the senior students to work towards, but all students can experience the Edusodes and receive a certificate of completion.
