The Celebration of Valor Dinner is one of the yearly key fundraising events held by the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center (NMOHHC). As a guest of Herbert Thornbury, I was honored to meet Britt Slabinski, newly elected President of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society (CMOHS).

Britt Slabinski graciously extended an invitation to Jeffrey Cordone, acting president of the Desmond Doss Foundation, to attend his new CMOHS “think tank” session. He was not aware of the DDF and wants to explore how we can support one another.

Jeffrey also met Mark Caldwell, Vice Chairman of the National MOH Advisory Board. Mark Caldwell was a neighbor of Desmond for over 20 years. It has been Mark’s dream to have the Education Center bear Desmond’s name.

Of course, at the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center, you will find Desmond Doss‘ uniform and many other personal items.
