A Message to our Desmond Doss Memorial Golf Tournament Players and Sponsors

Our foundation is driven with passion to carry forward the character traits and moral values that our namesake Desmond Doss exemplified by his incredible acts of heroism and compassion on the battlefield. His powerful story was globally seen by hundreds of millions of people in the award winning “Hacksaw Ridge” a film whose huge success and public impact gave birth to this foundation in 2018.

Desmond’s humility and kindness during his post military life profoundly affected all with whom he came in contact, especially youth. Desmond’s love for all people is the key hallmark of this amazing Hero and we are fulfilling his dream of inspiring people to live a character driven life, through our educational “Edusodes” aimed specifically at young people. To this end we are committed to perpetuating Desmond’s legacy for generations to come.

The Desmond Doss Memorial Golf Tournaments (DDMGT) are also a vital expression of meeting one of our initiatives of giving back to our Veterans and 1st Responders. Your participation also raises needed financial support to move the Doss Foundation’s objectives forward with our youth, and funding Veterans and 1st Responder initiatives in hearing health and other areas of life, that challenge these Heroes who have sacrificed so much to protect us.

Thank you in advance for visiting our Website and our DDMGT Registration Page and considering becoming a financial supporter as a Player or Patron Sponsor of a Veteran, Teacher or 1st Responder.

With gratitude,

Gabe Videla, Chairman of the Board & CEO
Jeffrey Cordone, Acting President & Chair, DDMGT

The Bear Trace

About The Course

Location:

8919 Harrison Bay Road,
Harrison, TN 37341

The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay State Park is destined to become a true classic in this collection designed by Jack Nicklaus. Located approximately 20 minutes north of downtown Chattanooga, The Bear Trace is surrounded by both water and heavily-wooded land, making an ideal setting for the course. Referred to as “the best natural piece of land for a golf course,“ the course features champion Bermuda greens and 419 Bermuda fairways lined with soaring pine and hardwood trees.

The second course in The Bear Traces to open, Harrison Bay is a true classic and quite possibly the crown jewel of the entire collection. This Bear Trace is surrounded by both water and heavily wooded land, making an ideal setting for the course. Harrison Bay stretches from 7,140 yards (championship tees) to just under 5,300 yards (forward tees).

The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay features Bermuda fairways lined with soaring pine and hardwood trees. Although water touches 12 fairways, there is more than sufficient room to hit safely. Most greens are open in front, which makes the course user-friendly for high-handicap players and allows run-up shots. Fairway and green side bunkers are designed in the traditional Nicklaus fashion and add notable character to the overall integrity of the course. Like other courses in the collection, the emphasis on playability is clearly evident.
