Guests and contributors overflowed with gratitude, remembrance, and heartfelt patriotism at the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to perpetually commemorate the life and legacy of Medal of Honor recipient Army CPL Desmond T Doss, who President Truman recognized as “Going far above and beyond…” saving 75 men as a medic in Okinawa when he ran into hellfire carrying only his faith.

In Desmond’s memory, in addition to our full flight of players, the Ventura County Sheriff and the Thousand Oaks Police Department participated, while 24 Veterans, First Responders, and Teachers were hosted to a day of complimentary golf at Los Robles Greens, thanks to the generous donations from our Patron Sponsors.

Councilman Mickey Taylor surprised us with a Proclamation Certificate of Recognition from the City of Thousand Oaks… in recognition of your 3rd Memorial Golf Tournament. “On behalf of the City of Thousand Oaks, we thank you for your exemplary commitment to our community and your dedication to veterans.” – Mayor Al Adams.

The Memorial Trophy Luncheon started with the posting of the colors by the Point Mugu Honor Guard; called out by Dick Stenbakken Ed. D. (Chaplain) COL U.S. Army (Ret). Dr. Stenbakken, the Chairman of the Doss Foundation Educational Committee, shared the depth of our educational initiative in carrying forward Desmond’s Values with our newly released Edusodes.

The Foundation presented a donation to Newbury Park Adventist Academy.

Kenny Lutz draws attention to the Honor and Remember flag, the organization that his dad, Geroge Lutz founded to perpetually honoring Fallen Military Families.

The day of Honor culminated with an intimate Q&A with Bill Mechanic, the Producer of Hacksaw Ridge. The audience was very engaged as he shared so many stories and behind-the-scenes insights.

Bill also shared with our guests that he is very happy to see Desmond’s legacy and values carried on through the new video series Edusodes. “I’m so concerned for our world, our country, with the divisive, contentious times we are in. This Character Development Series is needed right now. I am thankful for what the Foundation is doing.”
